Kayak Poaching

A member has reported that on the night of Thursday 11th August about 11:00pm that 3 persons were encountered paddling through the Hospital Pool. When challenged as to why they were kayaking in the dark, they claimed to have entered the river at Wolfscastle to paddle down its length. This seemed an unlikely tale, given the current low water levels, and aroused the suspicions of the anglers.

The plot thickened when one of the members of the angling party was offered a fish which was claimed to have 'jumped' into the kayak! If only all our sewin were as suicidal as that!

Anyway, the relevant authorities have been informed and we are increasing our vigilance in terms of bailiff patrols, but we would be grateful if members could keep an eye out for this sort of thing and perhaps take a picture or two if possible should any more kayakers be spotted at odd times of the day. Under no circumstances should members attempt to accost the kayakers in any way whatsoever, but we would be very grateful for any 'intelligence' which can be quietly gathered to assist the correct authorities.
