Latest Report to Trout & Salmon Magazine

The river has been very low this month and not many salmon have come in yet, however, there have been a few caught. Andrew Jenkins has had two up to 6lb one on the fly and one on rapala; Adrian Batty has had two up to 9lb and Carl Lowndes and Ernie Jones have had one apiece.

Sea trout at night is still very good. One lucky member, Dom Sheapard, has had a 6lb 4oz and a lovely 8lb 9oz fish fishing a small tube fly on intermediate line. Andrew Jenkins had one of 5lb 8oz on an Alexandra. Lots of members are catching multiple bags of fish around the 1lb mark.

There are a lot of big brown trout this year Jack James, Paul Nicholas, Martyn Lewis, Steve Esmond and other members have all had fish up to the 2lb mark, with numerous fish around the 1lb mark rising before dark (will a 3lb fish show this season?).

We have just erected our own log cabin clubhouse over looking our disabled platform in Treffgarne and hope to make full use of it  teaching young (and old !) members to fish by having 'learn to fish' days and evening sessions after the sea trout and other fishy events.

The under growth has shot up this month and with no high water members have not been out with the spinner treading the growth down. We do have a working party that goes out when it can, but we do need more volunteers. It can be a great couple of hours out, not hard work and you might pick up some fishing tips off some of our more experienced members

If you would like to come along please email your details.

Also, if you have caught fish please contact me just before the end of the month and I will put it in the Trout and Salmon fishing magazine as well as on this site.
