Pembrokeshire Fish Week 2011
Once again PAA participated in Pembrokeshire Fish Week, which over the last few years has become a fixture on the events calendar for our county.
We had a stand at Milford Haven Docks on the opening Saturday. Lloyd Evans tied flies to the delight of young and old. Some visitors even tried their hands at it too. Myself and the Chairman did our best to answer questions put to us. Anything from "the best place and flies for sea bass" to, "do salmon really swim all the way up to Welsh Hook?"
Amongst the many angling activities was a Sunday "Taster Day " at Llys-y-Fran reservior, several fine rainbow trout to 3lbs plus were taken. On Monday at the same venue an evening session saw some good fish including a brown trout landed.
On Wednesday the PAA day for the disabled was well attended. Several wheelchair users were there and pupils from Sir Thomas Picton School and Portfield Adult Centre,as well as several other people. Several brownies and a flatfish were landed.
On Friday evening at " Puddle Duck Fishery " an evening for fly fishing beginners, young and old, was held. Nineteen people attended and landed some fine rainbow trout to over four pounds in weight.
A "try coarse fishing" and BBQ was held at Wolfesdale Pit on the last Saturday and a fly fishing day at Whtehouse Mill on the Sunday.
A coarse and sea fishing competition took place on the last weekend with total prize money of £1,850.
We hope every one enjoyed the week, and would like to thank all those who helped and gave thier time. See you again next year.
